Abstract
Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the changes of plastic eyeglass frames when the frames were exposed to sweat and heat.

Methods: Following the exposure of eyeglass frames with trogamid and polyetheride materials to the artificial sweat of the pH of 6.0¡¾0.2 for 4 weeks, tensile strength, hardness and surface change due to sweat and heat were measured after further exposure to the temperature of 25¡É, 50¡É, and 75¡É.

Results: Eyeglasses frames made of trogamid and polyetherimide showed no change in hardness and tensile strength due to artificial sweat of pH 6.0 however, surface changes were observed. Following the exposure to heat after the exposure to artificial sweat of pH 6.0, there was no significant change in hardness and tensile strength. however, surface change was observed.

Conclusions: Since surface changes of plastic eyeglass frames were observed when exposed to artificial sweat and heat, it is suggested that management of eyeglass frames is necessary because there is a possibility that the physical characteristics may change during long-term exposure to sweat in daily life.
